I'm looking to replace the 3.25 x 16 Michelin M38 that is currently on my sidecar, a Velorex 562. It's an MZ Silver Star Gespann rig, and in fact it has the same tire on the front wheel as well. They're old.
I've been searching the boards, and certainly the Mitas 3.25 X 16 tire, if still available, seems to be highly recommended.
I have been looking at the Shinko SR208, 3.25 x 16, I've been quite happy with the quality of Shinko tires, but the load rating of 48 (397 lbs) does give me pause. I will admit to riding the rig pretty hard now and again and most of the time with a passenger. Heidenau has a K36 in the same size, but is rated 55P, 481 lbs. If I could find this tire that would be nice, although I haven't found anyone that stocks it yet (in the USA). I did see that Heidenau lists a K29, 3.50 x 16 specifically for sidecar usage rated 60P. I doubt that is gettable in the states, and I'd like to keep the 3.25 x 16 size, for no particular reason except that's what it came with from the factory.
Is the Mitas 3.25 x 16 available, and (I know it's appropriate, just curious) does anyone know the load rating? I think that's an obvious first choice.
I should also say, that this rig is a real joy. I've put over 800km on it in the three weeks that I've owned it, including a 200km day with a passenger in the hot sun and 90 degree heat. That Rotax didn't complain a bit.

The 3.50x16" Mitas tire has been used as a replacement for years. Both use the same rim width wheel.
Remember, the Mitas is a 4 ply sidecar tire that is designed to take heavy side loading, unlike regular motorcycle tires that are not.
