I know it's early but just wonder if anyone from Eastern NC is planning to attend the Sidecars in the Smokies rally in April 2016? just sending in my registration form and made reservations at the Campground. Sound like it will be a lot of fun. Looking forward to meeting some other sidecar folks. Thanks

Where do I find info and registration form for this 2016 Sidecars in the Smokies Rally? I've search the site and Googled, but can't find anything on it for 2016.

The rally registration fee does not include camping, is that correct? If so, we are to register for camping at the IronHorse Campground, is that correct?

As of last night Maryann was on board so we'll probably both be there. Still riding a BMW?? Yes, but which one? I have an R1100RT/Hannigan and a K1100LT/EML [still in the works but should be ready in time]. The RT will be up for sale in the spring... I guess it's for sale now but it's in storage so I don't have any pictures. We'll most probably be on the K1100LT/EML GT2. My old K1100LT [now Snowbum's rig] was black or maybe it was really dark gray but the new one is Mystic red. I'd prefer the more sedate color but not enough to repaint over a good factory paint job. In order to make the trip we'll be towing the rig. I guess that will get me a lot of flack but I'd rather tow it and get there than ride it and not go.

Ruth Daisy and I are here. What a beautiful place. Nice to be in a campground without all the usual distractions. Camping like it used to be before all the big rigs came in. Be prepared, closest grocery shopping is about 12 mi. away and closest Walmart is about an hr. away. GPS stopped working half way through the trip. Made for some interesting adventures! Heading to Murphy and Deals gap tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing all of you this weekend.

I got in yesterday. Met some new folks and caught up on some old friends.

Oh yeah, I "DID THE DRAGON"...by mistake! I was blindly following the GPS in my Honda Pilot, towing the rig and noticed a sign advertising my photo on the Dragon and by then I was on it! 11 miles, 300 plus turns, lots of semi angry sport bikers [I was not the only four wheeled vehicle out there]. It was a workout, even with power steering. The sport bikers all passed me ignoring the double yellow.

The Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge is REALLY NICE! I'm looking forward to having the rest of the crowd show up.

What Al isn't telling you is that he also hauled a separate sidecar from Iowa for a buyer that he had never met and expected nothing in return. A great way to welcome newbies to the sidecar world. Way to go AL Olme.

Thank you all for a great time at the Rally. Ruth and I enjoyed meeting each of you and putting faces with names. a special thanks to Cliff and Noreen for "masterminding" this venture and having the patience to lead this "herd of cats " on some beautiful roads. The Ironhorse campground was a beautiful place and John and Colleen have made it a very welcoming and motorcycle friendly place. This was our first sidecar rally and we look forward to enjoying many more! Ya'all ride safe!
