I'm still a newby but I haven't missed not having a reverse. I may be wrong but I was worried about how my steering would be without a steering fix and how I would get along without a reverse. Turns out, neither was needed once I had my rig. Worry for nothing I think.

Couple years back we purchased a Harley road king with a Lehman trike kit on it . Since this bike was for my wife. [ 120lb /5'2"] we thought about reverse. Once she started riding it decided to wait before installing reverse for awhile. She's put over 10,000 on it to date with no reverse and I don't see reverse in her future. Pretty much turns out that wherever you would park a two wheeled heavy bike and move it yourself you can do the same with a trike or a sidecar. Just takes the same planning you would do on that two wheeler. I do know several people who have reverse installed with no issues with the unit.

We have installed many of the Champion reverse gears. As long as you do not try and do burn outs in reverse they seem to be quite reliable. The reverse for the 5 speed is a bit fussy to install. The 6 speed is very easy to install.

While a reverse gear might be a nice thing to have occasionally, we've never needed it on either my Roadglide or my wife's Electraglide, both with sidecars. A little thought about where to park usually eliminates the need, and the few times one or the other of us has gotten stuck parked with a wheel in an unnoticed pothole or something, you don't have to worry about the rig falling over if you have to get off to give it a push for a few feet. For us, I can't justify the cost for something rarely needed. YMMV, of course.
