Mounting Ural on 1975 CB750

Subject: Mounting Ural on 1975 CB750

I have just gotten a Ural to replace the Velorex previously installed on my 1975 CB 750 (the Velorex was mangled by a clueless automobile driver.) The Ural has the usual ball mounts on the bottom and the front lower mount is fixed. I have the Dauntless center stand mount still in place from previous installation. I am wondering if anyone has had any luck mounting the 30mm ball mounts on a CB750 frame amd utilizing either of the original lower Ural mounts? Any advice is most appreciated, I finally got the sidecar I always wanted and I would like to achieve the cleanest installation possible.

The ball and collet mounts can be used if preferred with a bit of fabrication and welding.
I cut the front tube close to the frame gusset and rotate the collet to get the car mounted back a little farther, then reweld it in that position.
For the front a small sub-frame can be fabricated out of 1"x1"x.120" square tubing with the ball mounted on the end. This sub-frame can be attached to the front downtubes with u-bolts equalizing the stress to both sides of the frame. The upper front strut mounts with a U-clamp eye bolt.
I sometimes weld a triangular 3/16" plate with the rear ball attached where the tubes meet, for the lower rear mount. The rear sidecar mount can be split and extended with a piece of 1"x2"x.120" square tubing of the proper length. The upper strut mounts with a U-clamp eye bolt.

Bummer about your Velorex.
If your center stand mount has the eye threaded into it (as we normaly make them for the CB 750) then we can supply you with a 30mm ball to thread into the same hole.
