So I'm looking for something to ride in the winter that won't slip from under my butt. I was thinking of maybe one of those Ural driven sidecars, but the prices seem way overvalued. There's some nice rigs on here with decent prices that outshine those without a doubt. None of them seem real current, though, and most have unanswered questions that make me think the owner has sold already.

So- what's anyone got near Detroit? I don't really want to spend more getting the thing home than I pay for it, and I don't think I'd want to purchase sight unseen, either. I have an 'in' with a bike dealer over here if it makes a difference, but he's not too excited about being a sidecar dealer. Just saying, drop shipping is an option. Maybe we can convince him otherwise together...

Thanks, Frank, I never even thought of Canada. With needing a passport just for going over there now, I figured it'd be a bear to import a bike- but then I don't really need to, just a sidecar, eh? Any clue on import / titling laws? I never did anything out of the USA before. I know a guy who almost got arrested for trying to import contraband goods- a toilet that had a larger flush capacity than the new laws allowed. They do have some stupid laws I don't want to trip over.

What's CL anyhow?

CL is Craigslist.org. Sidecars themselves are not titled, essentially the are no different than saddlebags or any other motorcycle accessory. You'd have to check with US Customs to be sure but most likely a bill of sale would suffice for ownership.

You just need a signed bill of sale with the amount paid and you'll pay your entry taxes on the Canadian side.

Thanks guys! Still looking for a cheap full rig for now, I don't really want to ride the nice Harley in the winter, but I can probably get a bike cheap if I can find a hack to marry it to.

There's a nice looking rig in Ohio posted right here: http://www.sidecar.com/mbbs22/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=12184&...

And here's another prospect in Michigan: http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/mcy/4402656362.html
