When I bought my used Champion Escort it was blue and my 1995 Goldwing, Candy Spectra Red. I'll just paint the car right? First of all the red is 3 part and VERY expensive. So, I settled for the dark red which is sort of a contrasting color on the Wing. I sanded the blue and shot it with primer which cracked (spider-webbed). Again, I went through the process after a sanding and a thorough cleaning, same thing happened. I then tried first painting it with Krylon Fusion and had decent luck with all but a few places which DEFY all attempts to paint. Even red oxide primer won't stick. These are narrow lines of undercoat showing which after sanding them out again show up in the finished product. I covered one of the cracks until it nearly ran in the horizontal position and no luck. I'm painting enamel over a coating of enamel and where it looks good, it looks good. Found out that bubbles in the fiberglass are caused by water entering into the fiberglass. Anyone tried to paint a fiberglass car?

My painter had to use an etching primer on a section of my sidecar that had the hidden spider cracks. Than painted with urethane.
