So, I have a Triumph / Velorex rig. The bike has disc brakes, velorex kit is for drum brakes. I am thinking it's a bad idea to mix drum and disc so does anyone know of a kit to changeover the rig to disc brakes? I realize I may have to swap out the whole axle, I am open to all options.

been riding a couple of seasons with no brake in the car, I'm thinking I want to add one

More brakes is probably always better, but since you and I are riding the same exact rig (except for color, perhaps), I had to respond. I have been riding my rig for three years and have had no trouble stopping, even in one emergency stop. Under hard braking, as you know the car tries to go around the bike. For me, I now automatically turn (very sightly) to the right when braking. I also must say that I always ride alone so the weight of the car is only about the same as a passenger (smaller build) on the back of a solo bike. My concern was the same as yours - disc with drum on the car. I chose to not add car brakes.

I also ride a '99 BMW R1100 RT with an EZS Summit sidecar. It has brakes "all the way around" with discs/drum on car. Also, ABS on the bike, not on the car. I tried one practice emergency stop and found that the car tire locks up and makes one heck of a racket! The bike stops very well and with no skidding due to ABS. Under normal braking, it is nice to have the brake on the car as the rig doesn't try to turn left at all. Also, it's nice going down a hill for the same reason. I can be so tight I squeak so I rarely use brakes going down hill. I opt for the upper body workout.
