Re 2018 Rally:

How about motels in the area? I could only find a couple of very small hotels in Rising Sun - and the Casino. There also seems to be a Doubletree and a couple of other motels in Lawrenceburg about 10? miles north on the river. It's always nice to have a Rally motel where us non-campers can hangout in the evening.

Maybe Mikel Murray can start a 2018 Rally thread

Thanks,
Duncan

There are 2 hotels connected with the Casino. One is right on the river with the casino the other is west across the street near the new RV park. This may not make much sense unless you are looking at a Google satellite picture but it looks like it is quite large. The Campground has a few cabins also. We stayed at the Courtyard Suites. It is clean but needs maintenance. The TV didn't work and the bed was marginal. I would rate it 2.5 out of 5. We won't stay there again. Just our opinion. We thought it was the last place to stay - but it wasn't.

JR: Re site only being approved at the Rally: I would hope that the Board had done due dilligence before hand, especially re accommodations. Most of those hotels you mention are quite small - more like B&Bs - only the Casino has lots of rooms.

One of the nice things about the last two Rallys [Corning and Hotchkiss] was availability of a "Rally Motel" where most of the non-campers could stay and hang out.

It's not too early - and it doesn't take much effort - to start a thread for the 2018 Rally under "USCA Sponsored". I can do it if none of the Board Members/Officers or the Rally Master have time.

Al: Casino certainly looks like the best local choice for a "large" group. You already make a reservation? Anderson's or Empire each look fun for a very small group. I tend to avoid casinos because of the noise & smoke.

Will: I couldn't see anything on the Casino website about either a 2d hotel or cabins at the RV park

Thanks,
Duncan

Regards the two hotels... The casino hotel is attached to the casino and has the restaurants and the pool. The "Lodge" is newer and located across the parking lot. There is a shuttle that runs 24 hours a day between the two buildings and apparently the trip is just a couple of minutes. The Lodge is newer and slightly more expensive and has shorter halls [shorter walks to the rooms while you can have a LONG walk to your room in the casino hotel]. They are not accepting reservations yet for June, 2018. I believe we should let the local rally hosts contact the group sales folks to see if we can make a deal.

I'm open to other options if anyone has a good idea.

I will contact Mikel and Belinda and see if they can reserve a block of rooms. It sounds like the casino folks were very happy to help any way they can. This would be a great way to help.

I have a cabin at Little Farm. When I was driving around Rising Sun I saw some really nice bed and breakfasts in town and around right on the Ohio River really cool. I'm going down again in two weeks on my way or to Mammoth Cave when I go to view the eclipse if the eclipse gets clouded out I'll just go to the cave

I decided to start a 2018 national rally thread in the USCA Sponsored Rally sub-forum. right now the thread includes a brief summary of the information found in posts above.
