would it be possible to change the time of the flood control from 4 minutes to something a bit more reasonable? I find when I start replying to threads that it's quite cumbersome. thoughts???

I agree. 4 Minutes is ridiculous. 30 seconds would be better.

Can the SYSOP [or whoever is in charge of the software] explain why they chose 4 minutes?

And while I'm at it, why can't we have software that works with Safari?

Thanks,

Duncan

I agree, 4 minutes seems too long. How about one of those "verify you're a human" type thingamabobs instead?

OK, EVERYBODY!

Flood Control on this site has been set at 4 minutes for the last 15 years. No, I wasn't the one who set it. Until now no one has said anything about it. I reduced it to 2 minutes in an attempt to satisfy one particularly vocal user.

Our software does not accommodate "Proof of Life" authentication and even if it did you guys would really scream about doing that every time you wanted to post. Waiting a few extra seconds as opposed to actively entering a code with each post seems a good bargain. In fact, how often have you had to wait? I had to wait once last year but other than that flood control hasn't ever been an issue for me but I may not be the best example. When I post I like to take a few seconds to read what I'm about to send out to see if it's accurate, if it's necessary, and if it contributes something to the discussion. AND, I don't really type all that fast.

If 2 minutes doesn't work for you, contact Will Short, our President.

Thanks Al. Whether it's 2 minutes or 4 minutes, it's not often I want to submit something on the heels of just having posted. But it does happen occasionally. And it's not a big deal. 4 minutes would seem a very long time indeed if one was hung by their thumbs but kicked back in front of the computer... not so much. What are we all going to do with all the extra time on our hands now? One thing I think flood control does is keep one from double clicking the submit button leading to double posting. A good thing.

Yupp, normally that happened when actually clicked twice, or when I had to repair a wrong spelled word.
Strange always it looks different when in edit mode, then when posted. Possibly a psycologic effect to read what you want to, and not decipher well.
2 minutes sound more appropriate for to handle this aspect.
Sven
