Hello,

New to the forum. Previous Ural owner. Loved the bike, just too much work for my schedule.
Considering a new Triumph T120 with a Velorex hack. Anyone had any experience with these?
I understand the Velorex is quite a bit lighter than the Ural. I could never get the Ural chair off the ground, nor could we ever go 65-70 mph (did hit 60 several times), so I'm wondering if we'll be terrified running a lighter chair at higher speeds.

Any insights?

Welcome (back) to the slightly off-center world of sidecars!

As for you question about light rigs at high speeds, I'll leave that to someone with more experience.

I would not recommend the Velorex on a bike this large and heavy although many others have done these and they have worked out. I however would if you are running a Velorex on a T-120 recommend some up grades in the mounting system as Velorex mounts leave a lot to be desired. First, the way they do their lower mounts does not allow for proper wheel lead placement as such many Velorex sidecars are running far to much wheel lead as the only way to set wheel lead is the placement of the front lower frame clamp on the frame. Next issue on the lower mounts is it is not a question of if the lower rear is going to slip on the sidecar frame but more a matter of what to do to keep it from slipping. Many people will weld it down or drill a hole in the frame and clamp for a cross bolt. We however recommend some major changes to the lower mounts as outlined at this article http://www.dmcsidecars.com/the-result-of-improper-sidecar-mounting-...
Next issue is the Velorex "universal" frame clamps leave a lot to be desired. They seldom can be placed were they work well and have been known to damage the frame of the bike if tightened to much or worse as Velorex recommends installed with out the "slipper" We like to use proper bike specific mounts which we do offer for the T-120.
I do not know if any one is as of yet making triple tree's for the T-120, we do not but will some time in the future.

The T100 if it is water cooled is pretty much the same bike, the mounts interchange. The earlier air cooled T100 takes different mounts but other wise pretty much every thing is the same. We do however make triple tree's for the air cooled T100

How are your mounts different from the Velorex mounts? Do you have any pics of them?
