Hi folks,

New to the site, old hand at hacking - on my 7th rig. But number 6 is for sale. Great shape, solid runner. Just needs a new home. I am selling it because my kids and wife will not all be riding with me so I can build a smaller, more nimble rig (Vstrom with a Sputnik). So, without further ado:

Clean, low mileage (30300 mi) 1989 Honda Goldwing with Hannigan GT2 Sidecar. I hate to sell it but job change forces a reduction in herd. Bought 2 months ago, changed oil, final drive oils, installed K&N Filter and new sidecar tire as well as a thorough once-over and cleaning. Spacious sidecar with room for healthy adult or 2 small kids. Colored matched to bike with seat belt, forced air vents, removable top and side windows. Locking cavernous trunk. Allow wheel and car tire. All carpet lined. Sidecar also has electric tilt to adjust ride on the fly. Comes with Bike Clymer manual, bike owners manual, sidecar manual, bike cover, nifty mats for side cases on bike. Located in San Francisco, CA. Price $7150.

Rig has a new happy owner who found it on this list. I assume it's good to keep the ad up for future reference? If not I will delete it. Thanks! Stay tuned for Sputnik/Strom rig 'RedRascal' to be assembled soon!

Is this rig still for sale, and if so, can I ask a couple of questions?

What is the overall width of the rig at the widest point (presumably at the sidecar wheel)?

You mentioned electric tilt for the sidecar. I've seen this mentioned a few times on other rigs (electric tilt or electric lean). What does that do?

Thanks.

Hi, thank you for the interest in the sidecar. I'm traveling so unfortunatey i can't give you an exact measurement of its width. However I believe it to at least be 5.5 feet wide. The electric tilt enables you to raise and lower the sidecar so that you can match the crown of the road or adjust for rider weight or lack of rider weight. i will update you with exact measurements when i return in a week.

thanks, john

A Shadow with a Velorex is almost that wide. I think mine was 62" IIRC. That's going to be a lot more, I'd guess closer to 6'6" but I'm no expert.

Does this rig have the raked front end ?

Nice looking rig with low miles and a good price.

I have a GTL hung on a 2012 Wing. The rig is nearly 8ft. wide. This rig is going to be wider than that.

Jeff

Hi,

I am back from vacation and was able to measure it:
- Left mirror to right sidecar edge: 6' 9"
- Left saddle bag to right sidecar edge: 6' 3"
- Noose to tail: 9'

Thanks!

Thanks for the measurements. I was sure it was too wide to fit on my trailer, but wondered by how much (by a lot, it turns out!).

I've been considering a sidecar rig for awhile, but not 100% sure yet that's the way I want to go. But you're close (I'm in Petaluma), so I'd like to take a look, if you're ok with the fact that I'm still a little ambivalent about buying.

If that's ok with you, why don't you private message me and we can work out a time.

Thanks.

Tom

hi Tom,
Happy to show you the sidecar. Sidecarists are duty bound to spread the appeal of three wheels. its as important as selling the actual rig. i can show it to you this saturday

thanks john

John,

I sent a private message to your inbox regarding looking at the rig. Let me know if you don't get it.

Thanks.

Tom
