I'm trying to kickstart my 75 GL1000 but cannot discover where the kickstarter is connected to. I've looked everywhere I can think of.

Also, I tried to take out the starter on the bike, and all the oil in the bike gushed out. It will start now, but I don't know if I should put more oil in the bike. Any suggestions?

kicker mounts on left rear of motor. i would drain all of the oil, drain plug on front of motor. might as well change the filter at the same time. refill with correct amount and weight.......fly

Well, before reading your advice I filled refilled the oil (I didn't drain the rest out and didn't change the filter). Anyway, it ran fine for a short while, but the same problem occurred after the 6th start or so, with a bit of oil burning in the region of the starter. I haven't restarted it, but it seems like there is continual leaking of oil into the starter. Could some o-ring or oil seal be broken? Would changing to filter help?

I had a '75 wing from the first batch and over the years I had it the only way that I could start it with the Kick Starter was if it was at normal operating temp and had just been shut off. All other attempts were totaly wasted effort. It was far easier to Push Start it in 2d or 3d gear.

After a couple of years Honda did away with the wasted effort of the Kick Starter and removed the hardware on the engine too.
