I'm thinking about buying a sidecar for my 2006 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe, 1300cc, for my wife to ride in when she wants to go out riding with me. I've been reading and researching but cannot find my bike listed on the numerous sidecar mfg websites. Does any one here have a Royal Star Tour Deluxe with a sidecar? Is there a "sidecar guide" on the internet that would list a bike and match it to various sidecars? Any suggestions and help is appreciated.

Thanks!!!!

There are only a few sidecars that are actually 'bike specific' although there are many sidecars that would do quite well on your Royal Star. The Hannigan Classic sidecar is a good buy. We just mounted one on a Yamaha and it is doing very well See attached picture.
Motorvation's offerings are also good candidates.
Lots of choices out there really.
There is also a possibilty of finding a good buy in the used market. If you do plan to go that route please get some feedback from someone who is familar with sidecars before laying down your dollars. We have seen quite a few folks get something they thought was a 'good deal' only to find out the sidecar was too small, did not have mounts or whatever and end up spending far too much in the long run to get it going.
Oh, on emore thing. Sidecars can be very addictive and by posting here you have already shown signs of being bit by the sidecar bug. You have been warned.

Thanks for the information. There are alot of choices! I am trying to narrow down the field since I do not know anything about sidecars. I thought I would ask here. The Royal Star has alot of plastic fairings and covers. The bike's frame is difficult to see! I'm guessing that these fairings and covers would need removed for the sidecar mounting areas? I found a used California Sidecar Friendship II SE, not sure about the year on it, it has about 5000 miles on it. It was mounted to a 2000 HD Wide Glide. California Sidecar factory is closed today and I'm wondering if there are additional brackets available for the Royal Star? We are going to look at it tomorrow. What are the more important things to look for? Wear and tear, wheel bearing movement, fiberglass cracks, frame weld cracks and rust.....I know it's important to match the Sidecar to the bike. Too small and there are too many stress points on the sidecar frame. The Friendship is rated for 1000cc and above by the factory info. The Hannigan looks good on your bike. Yes I have the sidecar bug!!!!!

The FS II would be a good match for your bike.

The front of the FS II opens up for easy passenger entry. The FS I does not have easy entry, it's over the top and drop in.

ATC..My wife and I are running a Motorvation rig on my wife's Royal Star Venture and it is performing well after we had it adjusted...so far I am pretty happy with the unit..it was my wife's choice since she stopped driving solo on her Venture

I have a 08 Royal Star Venture with a Champion Escort. My wife would never ride on the bike so the only way to get her to tag along was with a sidecar. She did the shopping and liked the the way the escort looked and ease of entry...the trunk space was a real bonus also.
