Please accept this as your invitation to spring gathering for sidecar enthusiasts and friends in Natchitoches, LA for the 1st weekend in April, meeting up at the Riverview Inn a few blocks North of downtown. The only problem being the local oilfield activity has the Inn at near capacity. Contact the Inn at www.riverviewinnjt.com/ or 318-352-9561 or thibodeaux5@bellsouth.net, but I'm not sure how well they check emails.

There's lots to see, eat, do and eat in the area: Natchitoches is the oldest town in the Louisiana Purchase with a touristy historic downtown with brick streets, and some of the best leisurely riding in Louisiana along the Cane River and/or the Grand Canyon of Louisiana in the Red Dirt Wilderness Area. Also, the Louisiana Country Music Museum is about 20 miles to the West near Marthaville.

Please contact me with any suggestions, comments and/or questions.

Travel Safe,
Lee

As your Louisiana rep, please let me express that we are mighty proud of, and excited for, our Saints. Who would have ever thought of the Saints winning the Super Bowl? How 'bout that! We may have an extra little kick in our step on the Cane River this spring.

Re: the Cane River gathering, due to the number of long term oilfield workers staying at the Riverview Inn, the management has not been able to guarantee rooms for the 1st weekend in April. A few rooms may be available, but they just can't guarantee 'em. As a result, the proprietor, Joe Thibodeaux, has made a special deal for us:

He will rent the 3 suites of Andre's Riverview Guesthouse on the banks of the Cane River, across from downtown Natchitoches, for $200 per suite including taxes, for both Fri/Sat nights, April 2/3. See more info here: www.andresriverview.com/. If interested, please contact Joe - and only Joe, not his staff -- on his cell phone at: 318-527-9248 or the office 318-352-9561, and tell him you've talked with Lee with the sidecar group.

Jena & I have already reserved the small log cabin right next door to Andre's Guesthouse. The availability of these unique facilities has changed the character of the proposed weekend. Jena is already kinda excited.

Thanks David: The Super Bowl been a long time coming for us Saint's fans.

More Good News: Jena has -- as for now -- volunteered to cook Friday evening supper for us in Natchitoches about 6:30pm April 2nd at the Log Cabin Guest House at 614 Williams Avenue.

The menu it TBD and she'll need a head count so please send me an email by Sunday March 28th if you plan eat with us: rleeryder at bellsouth.net.

The preliminary plan for Saturday April 3rd is to gather at Lasyone's Meat Pie Restaurant for breakfast about 8:30-9:00am and leave for a ride along the Cane River about 10:00am, with stops to be determined upon group interest.

See info on the Cane River area at: www.caneriverheritage.org and

After a couple of showers Friday night to help wash the pollen out of the air, we had almost perfect weather, good roads/scenery and great fellowship. By the time we finished Saturday morning breakfast 9 rigs (4-TX & 5-LA), 3 solo bikes and about 20 folks (+1 dog) had assembled on 2nd Street.

We all enjoyed the roads along the Cane River, which are among the best in Northwest Louisiana, with various rigs joining and leaving as personal schedules required. There were no mishaps, limited confusion and only minor mechanical problems. In all, it was a good day indeed. Thanks to all that participated.

Unfortunately, we have few pics as Jena has found that it's more difficult to concentrate on taking photos when she's driving her own rig, especially with a dog to be watered/walked. /Lee
