Four of us sidecar folks, along with a few of our 2-wheeling friends, met up yesterday for Gumbo by Jay & Ann -- our chili cooks at the Uncertain?Rendezvous 2010 -- at the Cedar Run Ranch near Scottsville, Texas, which we re-named "Gumbo Ranch" for the day. After escorting Jena & Corkie to the Ranch to help set up & visit, we met up with oldtimer & UralCT of the Soviet Steeds. Having a couple of hours 'til lunch, we took the scenic route to stop at a couple of historic sites in Eastern Harrison County, including the cemetery in Scottsville where we found the weeping angel called "Grief" carved out of marble in 1904 (unfortunately now missing a hand):

Here's Charlie (UralCT) in front of the stone Chapel, also dating from +/-1904:

It was a beautiful spring day in East Texas:

We then traveled to the community of Jonesville where we stopped by the T.C. Lindsey Store that have been in operation since 1847 (sorry, the white store in the bright sunlight overwhelmed the iPhone camera):

We were not the only motorcyclists out and about (from across the street from the store):

After traveling down a black-top/gravel county road -- to the delight of our Ural pilots -- we finally arrived at Gumbo Ranch just after noon:

Then, after a cup of cowboy coffee, we enjoyed a couple+ bowls of Jay's seafood gumbo cooked over an open fire:

Thanks to Jay for supplying us with another round of good eats. Jena topped it off by serving up root beer floats with Blue Bell ice cream. Yep, some of us were looking for nap before heading back home.

You're welcome gpers.

Hey Everybody: I encourage all of us to tell us about your rides and post a few pics, even if it's just a day trip to the next town for lunch.

Our catalyst for posting of ride reports have been our association with the Texas contingent of the Soviet Steeds. The Ural folks are always telling stories and posting pics on their forum, even if they don't get out of their neighborhood or off the farm. It's a lot fun as they discuss their rides and (mis-)adventures.

Traveling season is about here. Let's hear some tales.
