Le Grand Tour of the USA

my wife and me have decided to take a big break and discover this big country with our sidecar .
The rig is : 2011 HD Road King with a 1971 Watsonian Palma sidecar .
our trip started on June 10 , 2012 and we plan to end it by August 20th , 2012 .

...where our daughter Camille and her husband Pierre-Alexandre joined us , ending nicely this trip of 65 days and 10831 miles . END


We spent the Sunday at Mohonk Lake ....


After a night in a motel in East Stroudsburg , we stooped to stroll through the fair in a small town on our route to New Paltz .


of particular interest to me was this 1916 Reading Standart with a Rodgers sidecar .


On August 10th , we stopped in Boyertown for lunch and visited the not-to-miss museum where all vehicles exhibited have been made locally ( in Pennsylvania ) .


On August 9th , we left Chincoteague and visited the close by Center of NASA prior to continue North on route 113 to Dover .


then we headed north on route 13 to Chincoteague where we spent the night and the following day .


what a good time ... lunch and a boat promenade on the marshes next to their home...


Early on that day - Aug.7th- we left Williamsburg under light rain to head South to Norfolk and then take the spectacular Chesapeake Bay bridge-Tunnel to the Peninsula where we stopped to visit friends in Exmore .


then , we visited the Historic Williamsburg ... unforgettable experience !


the following day , Aug. 6th , we visited the battlefield of Yorktown and took this photo of the canon took by Mr de Lafayette during this decisive battle of the war of Independence .


After having secured a hotel for the next 2 nights in historic Williamsburg , we took a shuttle bus to Jamestown to do the visit of the first American settlement ( 1607 ).
