After lunching in Surry , we took the (free) ferry crossing the James River to Jamestown en route to Williamsburg .

On August 5th , we left Rocky Mount early and stopped for breakfast , on route 40 , at Carl's . A great american breakfast in this family owned place

Then , we visited the Booker T. Washington National Monument .

This Museum also includes an 18th Century farm , in full activity , as it was in that time period . Thank you to Natacha who guided us throughout the visit , all dressed in 18th Century costume .

on August 4th , after a night in Rocky Mount , we came back to the Visitor Center on the BRP and got the roof back and then took the Crooked Road to stop and visit the Museum in Ferrum , VA .

August 3rd has been a bad and a good day : a bad day as we lost the sidecar cover - and realized it 60 miles later !- and a good one because after having riding back to where we left that morning , we gat a phone call from the Visitor Center where we inquired about the roof earlier that they found it !

Then crossing the Virginia State line prior to stop for the night at the Woodberry Inn .

A great visit of the Moses H. Cone Memorial Park ...

August 2nd sees us back on the BRP .

And then , we spent the entire afternoon visiting Biltmore ( Ashville , NC ) enjoying early evening the visit of its winery .

After a night in Hendersonville , NC , we went to visit the home of Carl Sandberg ... a total discovery for us ... not only the home but of Carl Sandberg himself and his works !

A stop at Mt Pisgah and its restaurant offered a well needed relief .
